Working at CorPower Ocean you will be part of a world class team, determined to make big impact. We are on a mission to Power the Planet with clean electricity from ocean waves. We offer autonomy and flexibility, combined with personal responsibility. CorPower Ocean is a global leader in wave energy, with a technology that has shown game-changing performance. Your work will contribute to the global energy transition by unlocking one of the largest untapped sources of clean energy on earth. Since the start in 2012 CorPower has raised more than 115mEUR to bring our technology to market, supporting a growing commercial project pipeline.
Role
We’re looking for a hands-on leader who loves to turn cutting-edge designs into real, working technology in an advanced industrial environment. As Senior Assembly Technician, you’ll take charge of bringing our wave energy converters from concept to reality — leading all activities related to assembly and integration. You’ll join our Assembly & Test Team, working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marine Operations to build systems that will power a cleaner, more sustainable world.
Please note that this role will lead some of our activities on our operations sites both in Kristinehamn & Viana do Castelo (Portugal) and will therefore require extensive travel (around 75% expected in peak times).
Responsibilities
- Hands-on technical leadership for assembly of wave energy drive train products (Power Take-Off), including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system assembly & testing.
- Manage tasks to meet performance, schedule, and budget targets.
- Translate engineering designs into practical, efficient, and scalable assembly procedures.
- Collaborate across teams to embed design-for-assembly (DFA) principles early in development processes.
- Represent CorPower Ocean at external assembly partners and suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement in assembly quality, throughput, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to industrialization of our products and scale-up of the manufacturing capacity.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Develop schedules aligned with project milestones and offshore deployment timelines.
- Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary assembly team while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Train Assembly, Operations & Maintenance engineers on PTO assembly and service methods.
- Support procurement activities, including component and supplier selection, manufacturing oversight, and factory acceptance testing.
- Support testing and pilot installations in the field.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years’ hands-on experience leading assembly and testing of advanced mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Knowledge in electromechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical assembly and service methods.
- Strong ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills
- Proven capability to document and refine assembly procedures for efficiency and repeatability.
- Proficient with software tools for 2D/3D drawings, schematics, control, data analysis and reporting.
- Solid understanding of relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Swedish language skills preferred but not essential.
- Degree (BSc or MSc) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is an advantage—but your practical experience, problem-solving skills, and passion for building technology matter most.
- Broad technical knowledge and genuine passion for advanced industrial machinery.
- Willing and able to travel extensively and at short notice.
As a person, you:
- are striving for excellence, put quality into everything you do
- are self-motivated and constantly seek the most efficient ways to work
- search for simple and sustainable solutions to difficult problems
- love to learn new things, and take pride in constantly developing your skills
- are persistent, knowing it takes stamina to reach pioneering goals
- see your tasks through to completion
- are comfortable in presenting your solutions internally and externally
- are data driven and strive to always back your points with solid analysis
